How it all started...
On March 4, 1951, three families, and one young college student from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO, came together to form what would originally be called Berean Fundamental Baptist Church. They had a vision for the community of Bolivar to have a church that would be evangelistic, centered upon the Bible, and a place where men and women would be trained to go out and make a difference for Christ in their world.
Expanding the vision...
From renting a space in an empty café, to purchasing a small lot off of Albany Ave and building an auditorium, to moving to the edge of town right off of Hwy 13, building a larger auditorium, then later remodeling, much has happened with regard to the meeting place of Berean Baptist Church. In the past 71 years of Berean’s history, hundreds have come to know Christ and have been baptized. Dozen’s have gone forth to serve locally, across the United States, and even to the uttermost parts of the earth. Missionaries have been trained, commissioned, and sent. Pastors have learned, ministered, and gone forth to preach and teach the Word of God. And for 65 years, wherever Berean Baptist Church of Bolivar has gathered, it has been a place in which to freely worship the Lord Jesus Christ, a place to fellowship with other believers, and a place to gather to learn and be prepared to minister to those without Christ.
Where we are headed...
While we have an amazing past that God has greatly blessed, we're not content to just talk about what was and what has been. We're excited about what God is doing today, as the next generation is stepping up to make a difference in their world. We are committed to pursuing the Will of God wherever it takes us and we hope you'll come alongside.
Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together a 9:30 am and 11 am.
